Staff Academy lesson 5 of 12
Respond to concerns without pressure
Listen, acknowledge, explore, and respond with relevant evidence rather than arguing or inventing urgency.
Learning objective
Staff can distinguish a question, a solvable obstacle, and a respectful no.
Sample language
“That makes sense. Is the main concern the schedule, the cost, or whether this is the right fit? I can answer what I know, and it’s okay if the right next step is more time.”
Use this as a structure. Replace every bracketed field and follow the school’s approved terms and language.
Coaching points
- Acknowledge before asking a clarifying question.
- Answer only with verified program, policy, and availability information.
- Never use fear, shame, false scarcity, or a fabricated deadline.
- Accept a no and leave a mutually agreed follow-up only when welcomed.
Practice scenario
A visitor likes the class but says the family needs to compare schedules and talk at home.
Role-play scorecard
- Acknowledged the concern
- Asked one useful question
- Used verified information
- Respected the decision
Apply it to real work
Role-play two common concerns and document the approved response direction.
Completion evidence: A manager signs off that the staff member handled both scenarios without pressure or unsupported claims.
