Staff Academy lesson 7 of 12
Notice needs across the household
Recognize when another family member may benefit from a program, while keeping the recommendation relevant and optional.
Learning objective
Staff can make one appropriate household recommendation without turning every interaction into an upsell.
Sample language
“You mentioned that [sibling/parent] is interested too. We do have [relevant program]. Would it be helpful if I showed you the schedule?”
Use this as a structure. Replace every bracketed field and follow the school’s approved terms and language.
Coaching points
- Use information the family volunteered; do not infer sensitive needs.
- Recommend only a genuine program fit with current capacity.
- Keep household records linked but preserve each person’s consent and enrollment decision.
- A helpful no-pressure answer builds more trust than a forced bundle.
Practice scenario
A parent waiting through a child’s class asks whether adults can begin without prior experience.
Role-play scorecard
- Used volunteered context
- Recommended a relevant program
- Made the offer optional
- Avoided assumptions
Apply it to real work
Identify one appropriate household opportunity and offer information once.
Completion evidence: The household or lead record documents the interest and requested next step.
