Money Move 2 of 9

Reconnect with unexpectedly absent members

Identify active students whose attendance dropped below their normal pattern and reach out before a temporary obstacle becomes a cancellation.

The outcome

Quiet students receive a timely human check-in based on real attendance evidence.

Evidence to review

  • Active members with no check-in during the school’s chosen quiet-member window
  • The student’s prior attendance pattern, program, and recent staff notes
  • Known injuries, travel, freezes, schedule conflicts, or family changes

Run the move

  1. 1Confirm that the absence is unusual before contacting the student or parent.
  2. 2Assign outreach to a staff member who knows the student when possible.
  3. 3Ask what is getting in the way before proposing a solution.
  4. 4Record the response and a specific follow-up date.

Monthly scorecard

  • Quiet members contacted
  • Replies and return-to-class commitments
  • Members who resumed attendance after outreach

What should and should not be automated

Attendance can trigger a signal, but software cannot diagnose a student’s circumstances or replace instructor judgment and empathy.
